White Shelf w/Drawers

September 9, 2011
Today was a day of non-stop running around.  The only non-fun part of getting married...you have to change your name on everything!  And of course none of those places are in the same building, most aren't even in the same town.
But while we were running around, Kelly's mom sent us a text with a picture of an interesting shelf.  She was in Goodwill and thought it would make an interesting project for us.

Once we got back to the house, there it stood.  5 ft of a really bad white paint job, and obvious signs that it used to belong to a bigger shelving unit.  The plywood in the drawers is flimsy, the back isn't even painted, and we're pretty sure a door covered the top hole.
But the knobs on the drawers are in really good shape, they look almost like distressed metal.

So far we've thought about adding a door back to the top, leaving it open and putting in cubby hole type shelves, and even converting it into a wine rack.  We have decided to remove the paint and repaint it; we're leaning towards white again.  But other than that, the ideas are still formulating.
I did stake my claim to lining the drawers with some amazing cabinet/drawer lining paper I found online at www.hardwarestore.com.  Check it out, I think if I line the drawers and the inside of the cubby it will really add a modern touch to this old piece.
